Membrane plants

HOGAT LLC delivers, installs and starts up the membrane air separation plants.

Air separation into gases by membrane is most often used in industries wherein the small amount of service gases is needed. Operating principle of membrane air separation plants is based on the size difference of gas molecules that make up the air. Special material is used in form of hollow fiber (membrane) in the structure having tubes with diameter to the size of gas molecule to be obtained. There is possible another option of air separation: molecules of smaller diameter pass through the membrane tubes than nitrogen molecules.
In most cases, membrane air separation plants are used to obtain service nitrogen (N2). It is most in the air and always demanded by industry. The air in such plant is initially compressed by the Compressor, passes through the mebrane and only nitrogen exits the plant. The remaining air is enriched by oxygen and can be used for subsequent gas separation.
membrane air separation plants do not produce gas of high purity and are demanded for production of service gases in wide variety of industries:

  • Glass industry;
  • service nitrogen production;
  • Power engineering;
  • Oil refining;
  • Metallurgy;
  • Medicine;
  • Food industry;
  • Chemistry;
  • Electronics and instrument making.

Membrane plants have the following advantages:

  • Exceptional reliability (15-20 years) due to the lack of movable parts;
  • Fire and explosion safety and simplicity of design;
  • Compact design, can be mounted on mobile chassis;
  • Conviniant operability and maintainability;
  • High degree of Unit automation.

Membrane air separation plants are indispensable solution for production of service gases in view of their exceptional reliability, where their high purity (95 - 99.8%) is not required in the gaseous state.
